Regis Ribeiro
Regis Ribeiro's paintings seem to seek out the strength that time has over us and things, this is revealed to us in their colors that seem faded, as if they were being worn down by time.
Over the course of a few years of their poetic search, they bring residues of paint and collage that veil each other, revealing the impact that light can have on the materiality of the pictorial mass.
If time is inexorable and the painting, like any other matter, is not, Régis in his search tries to portray what the passing of years can bring and we as mortal beings will not notice or will not be here to watch, making it worth being able to know this “time” that his works proposes and brings to us before it actually passes.
